THE season is shaping up well at Ocean Grove Tennis Club.
Five out of 15 teams are top of the ladder in their divisions – Sections 3, 9, 18 Red, 20 Red and 21.
In section 20 Ocean Grove Red is top with Ocean Grove White second on the ladder. Teams 13, 18 White and 20 White are in the top four.
This week all teams will have played against the complete schedule of opposition teams, and will therefore have a good idea of the calibre of competition going forward.
Friday night is a busy night at the club. There are three development squads – First Squad, Junior Development and then the Advanced Squad.
This is also a good night for parents to come in with queries, as the committee members are usually around preparing for the Saturday competition, and having a cuppa together!
In social news, there was a very successful halloween evening at the club on 31 October.
Many club members and their children came down to the club for a barbecue dinner and social evening. The children then went trick or treating in groups and returned with bags full of treats.
The next social event is the Christmas Party on Saturday 12 December where all members are welcome. There will be a lovely dinner, children activities, a visit from santa and carol singing. This will be a very special night, and one not to be missed!
27 November – There is a trivia night at the club for a community work fund-raiser. See flyer on clubroom window for more information.
12 December – Last home and away match before the break and the OGTC Christmas function is held at the club – all members welcome, details on clubroom noticeboard.
11-14 January – Warrnambool Country Week Tournament.
30 January – Tennis recommences after Christmas break.
