Season stays alive

The ever-reliable Dane Wise-Graham bowled well again.

Wallington successfully outgunned St Leonards to keep its A2 Grade season alive in round 12.

The win puts the Wallabies one win and percentage behind the Saints with two rounds to go.

On day one, Daniel Williams top scored with 37 as Wallington set the Saints 193 to win.

Day two proved to be a thriller.

Brian White (63) got the Saints off to a good start, but Colin Smith (3/53) and the ever-reliable Dane Wise-Graham (4/40 from 20.3 overs) turned the game back in Wallington’s favour.

At 9/183, Wise-Graham made the final breakthrough, keeping his side in the finals hunt.

Had Wallington lost, its season was over and while St Leonards is still favoured to secure fourth place, the pressure is now on to beat Newcomb in the penultimate round while Wallington meets a dangerous Winchelsea side.

Wallington had a bye in B2 Grade and is in second spot with a game against Winchelsea, which it should win, and Barwon Heads in a battle for the minor premiership.

Wallington lost both D Grade games.

The 3rd XI fell to a vastly improved Ocean Grove with Mar Johnson (49 and 3/33) and Ravi Limbachiya (4/29) the stars. The team is still in second place on the ladder.

The 3rd XI was beaten by Collendina with Stephen Wright getting 43 and Will Richardson taking 3/45.
