Thousands converged on Ocean Grove main beach for a major state life saving competition this month despite a shark sighting a day earlier.
Ocean Grove beach was closed for two hours on Friday 3 February after shark sighting saw more than 40 people evacuated from the beach.
Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club played host to the Life Saving Victoria Senior State Carnival in warm conditions on Saturday 4 February.
Lifesaver competitors came from across the state to participate in the fourth State Senior Carnival this summer.
It was also a big day for those who participated in the State Masters Championships for surf boats.
The Ocean Grove based competition was a solid test for entrants before next month’s State Championships at Port Fairy and Aussie Titles at North Kirra Beach on the Gold Coast.
