Popular SEN radio hosts Mark Allen and David Schwarz popped in for a snag at an Ocean Grove Football Netball Club fund-raiser at Thirteenth Beach Golf Links last week.
Allen and Schwarz, who is based in Barwon Heads, were part of an outside broadcast on SEN 1116’s The Run Home last Friday 10 February during the Oates Vic Open.
Ocean Grove FNC president Tony Potter said club volunteers had kindly donated their time to help with the barbecue fund-raiser across the four days while the golf event was on.
“We were there on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and had six volunteers working in two-hour blocks,” Potter said.
The Grubbers are scheduled to play pre-season practice matches against Newcomb, Grovedale and Cobden prior to their BFL 2017 season opener against Portarlington on 1 April.
Ocean Grove resumed their pre-season training last month under new senior coach Paul Lynch.
In other news, golfer Mel Reid won the women’s Vic Open in an exciting three hole play-off, while New South Wales based Dimi Papadatos won the men’s event by two strokes on Sunday 12 February.
The 2017 Vic Open marks the fifth consecutive year straight the event was hosted at Thirteenth Beach Golf Links, near Barwon Heads.
