Slow Grubbers bat all day

Ocean Grove crawled its way to a laborious 129 all out from 74.2 overs in its BPCA A1 Grade game against Armstrong Creek on Saturday January 28.

The Grubbers found the going slow at Ray Menzies Oval on day one of the crucial 12 clash.

Most of the Titans bowlers returned economical figures.

Brandon Ross bowled 26.2 overs for his 2/40 while Ben Fary returned 2/27 from 13.

The Titans pitched the ball up and bowled one side of the wicket to make scoring as difficult as possible and it paid off.

Debutante Adam Arnold top scored with 17 from 43 deliveries while number 11 Rob Rutley contributed a very handy 22.

While the season won’t be mathematically over for the loser of the clash, it will put a severe dent in any finals aspirations.

Ocean Grove needs 215 runs this weekend with nine wickets in hand against Armstrong Creek in B1 Grade.

Luke Judd top scored for the Titans with a fine 84 from 147 balls in the final total of 223.

Ned Slater starred for the Grubbers with 6/38 from 17.2 overs while Billy Forde-Engelsman bowled with his usual accuracy and returned 1/53 from 19.

In reply, the Grubbers are 1/9.

Charlie Larsen continued his productive season with the willow for the B2 Grade side with a well-made 80.

Ocean Grove made 9/250 against St Leonards with Larsen taking his season’s run tally to 385.

Andrew Schoch chipped in with a nice 53 to give Grove what should be a winning score.

Brandon Jeffrey was introduced into the attack late for the Saints and took 4/28.

Jan Juc defeated Ocean Grove by nine wickets in D Grade.

Opener Bruno Boris top scored with 26, but the Grubbers were dismissed for 106.

The Sharks knocked off the runs in just 15 overs with Chris Huxtable making an unbeaten 54.
