Drysdale defeated arch rivals Portarlington in A2 Grade on Saturday to cement its spot on top of the ladder.

Port won the toss and batted first on a steamy day and had several players get starts, but nobody could reach 20.

The final tally of 129 was well short of what it would have wanted at the start of play.

Spinner Bailey Sykes is having some sort of season. He picked up a further five wickets to take his season’s tally to 25 at a stunning average of 6.72.

His father, David, grabbed four wickets with his left-arm seamers and showed he has lost none of his nagging accuracy.

The Hawks chased down the target with eight wickets and 11 overs to spare.

Jason Malcolm remained unbeaten on 47 from 76 balls.

Armstrong Creek flexed its muscles with a big win against fellow finals contender Winchelsea.

Winch struggled against the Titans’ attack, making 102 all out with Daniel Maclean snaring 3-17, Jack Maclean 2-13 and young leggie Grace Jones 2-31 from her eight overs.

The Titans needed only 23.3 overs to run down the target with Dylan Flanigan crafting a well-made 58 not out from 74 balls.

Barwon Heads pushed back into the top four with a percentage boosting win against Newcomb.

Ben Harris (51 from 77), Max Melzer (34 off 85) and Darcy Hewitt (27 from 39) pushed the Seagulls’ total up to 5-198, which meant the Bulls needed five an over to win.

At 1-43, Newcomb was travelling slowly but was giving the Heads’ bowling something to think about.

However, it proved too much with the Bulls falling for 69 in the 40th over.

Jack Johnstone again proved hard to get away with 2-10 from eight while Oscar Irwin and Matt High also grabbed two each.

Little River leapfrogged Wallington on the ladder thanks to a five-wicket win.

Davinder Singh made a rapid 47 from just 28 deliveries in Wallington’s total of 138 all out.

A 105-run stand between Redbacks’ batters Nick Fairchild (60 off 62) and Chris Collins (55 not out from 100) then got the side home with nine overs left.
