Nippers make Victorian squad

TWO Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club nippers have been awarded with selection in a Victorian Development Team to compete at the 2016 Southern State Championships this week.
Eight under 13 representatives including Ocean Grove pair Tim Hannan and Tyler Walsh were named in a Victorian team member squad of 24, which included eight under 14 and eight under 15 representatives.
The Southern State Championships takes place from Thursday January 7 to Sunday January 10 across competitions held at Kardinia Aquatic Centre in Geelong and competitions at Jan Juc SLSC and Fairhaven SLSC.
IN other surf life saving club news, senior Ocean Grove SLSC competitors competed well at the senior Life Saving Victoria carnival at Anglesea on Sunday 3 January.
Among the highlights was Ocean Grove SLSC’s victory in the Under 17 Men’s Single Ski Relay event.
Ocean Grove came in first place in the Under 17 Men’s Taplin Relay race.
Not to be outdone, Ocean Grove won the Under 17 Women’s Surf Board Relay race.
In the Under 17 Women’s Surf Teams race Ocean Grove claimed first place.
In the Under 19 Men’s Single Ski Ocean Grove competitor Kyle Solterbeck finished in first position, while star Grove competitor Lucy Conquit won the Women’s Under 19 Single Ski event.
The Under 19 Ocean Grove women’s team won the Surf Race, Surf Teams and the Taplin Relay event competitions.
