Feedback for riverbank sought

The community is being invited to have a say on design options for an upgrade of riverbank at Ocean Grove.

Weather events have led to the deterioration of the aging protective wall along the eastern riverbank near the Riverview Family Caravan Park and Barwon Estuary Walk.

In preparation for potential upgrade works, Barwon Coast and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) are seeking the community’s preferences around an upgrade of this site.

Engineers have developed design options for a potential protective barrier along the riverbank to prevent coastal erosion.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to provide feedback on the design options for the revetment, a raised pathway, and potential access points to the beach.

Features of the three designs are:

Option one: The existing revetment repaired with extra concrete and rocks. Construction of a low seawall and a section of raised pathway with a safety rail alongside the revetment.

Option two: Construction of a new interlocked stone revetment. A raised pathway and safety rail to be built alongside entire length with a safety rail.

Option three: Works to revegetate the riverbank, creating a shallow slope to the river. A raised pathway and safety rail to be built alongside the entire length.

More details and images of the designs can be viewed at the Engage Victoria website.
