We are the champions my friends

Ocean Grove completed a memorable weekend, winning the major cricket and bowls titles.

The Grubbers claimed their first Bellarine Peninsula Cricket Association A Grade title in more than 15 years, by defeating Anglesea at Winchelsea.

It was a clinical performance from Ocean Grove, which gained some sort of revenge on the ‘Seas who beat them in last year’s final.

Anglesea could score only 137 in which spinner Tom Beasley took his second six-wicket haul for the finals series, to be named a deserved player of the match.

Beasley’s performance on day one was somewhat overshadowed by Anton Scholtz’s batting effort on day two.

Scholtz made a delightful unbeaten 77 to steer the Grubbers to a memorable premiership.

Ocean Grove completed the quinella with a wonderful win in the Geelong Ballarat Premier Division bowls premiership against Queenscliff on Sunday.

The Grovers won convincingly by 23 shots – 102 to 79 at Belmont.

It was a superb performance by the Grovers considering they lost star youngster Kira Bourke during the season.

Matt Flapper’s rink had the biggest win of the day.

The former Commonwealth Games rep led his rink of Cheyne Verrier, Callum Hanna and Bradley Pavey to a 34 to 16 triumph that set the tone of the afternoon.

Ocean Grove also won the Division Five and Division Seven premierships.
