Schools to benefit from funding

Two Bellarine Peninsula schools will share in more than $6.6 million through Round 7 of the Inclusive Schools Fund.

Sensory play equipment, outdoor learning spaces and kitchen gardens are among a number of school building projects the state government is supporting.

Member for Bellarine, Lisa Neville, today announced that both Leopold and Wallington Primary Schools will benefit from the funding in small building projects that make a big difference to the educational and social needs of all children and young people, including those with a disability and additional needs, by increasing participation opportunities and improving learning outcomes.

Leopold Primary School has received $178,480 and Wallington $180,440 both for the installation of an inclusive playground and modern play equipment.

The Victorian Budget 2021/22 invested $10 million into the Inclusive Schools Fund, building on a boost of $20 million in the Victorian Budget 2020/21.

The state government launched the Inclusive Schools Fund in 2015 to help Victorian schools cater for all students, and make sure all children and young people can fully participate, learn, develop and succeed. Since then, more than 340 projects have shared in $70 million in funding for inclusive projects.

The next round of funding is expected to be launched in early 2022.

“I’m pleased students at both Leopold and Wallington Primary schools will have access to more inclusive spaces through the latest round of the Inclusive Schools Fund and I look forward to seeing the finished project in the very near future,” Minister Neville said.
