Zebra Bar & Bistro has re-opened with a fresh new look after owners Paul Young and Caron Zillwood took the opportunity to do some renovations while the venue was closed due to COVID-19 restrictions.
And while the bar is showing off its new stripes, it’s also keeping some favourites.
The ‘Zebra 2 U’ takeaway service, introduced so customers could enjoy a bistro meal of steak, seafood or parmis at home during COVID lockdown, has been so popular it will continue going forward.
“It has certainly been a hard few months for the hospitality industry but the overwhelming support from Ocean Grove has been tremendous,” Paul says.
“We have loved seeing all the venues re-open and we know how hard everyone has worked to re-open under the strict guidelines. We await the further easing of restrictions and will ensure we continue to adhere to all the rules we must operate under to ensure everyone’s safety.”
Zebra Bar & Bistro is opening Wednesday to Sunday for dinner and weekends for lunch.
Caron says it’s been fantastic seeing the smiling faces of their customers again.
“Our first week of re-opening for dine-in has been very rewarding,” she says.
“Our diners helped us ensure their experience was enjoyable and safe and understood why we had to enforce strict rules – they were just happy to be out and loved that we were providing table service, which is a new way of operating for us.
“We really appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience.”
Zebra Bar & Bistro is known for its seafood and steak dishes, so of course these feature on the menu, as well as the ever-popular parmis. Paul and Caron are working on some new additions to the menu that they know their customers will love. They’re also increasing the beverage list.
In line with current restrictions, Zebra Bar & Bistro can have a limited number of
patrons inside and some outside on the enclosed balcony.
“We were booked out over the recent long weekend and are already booked in advance,” Caron says. “So it is really important for our customers to book early so you don’t miss out!”
