Whale rescue suspended

An operation to disentangle a whale off Barwon Heads has been suspended for today.

Deteriorating weather conditions and visibility have made it too unsafe to attempt the rescue.

Operational staff and an Incident Management Team will be in place tomorrow morning to continue monitoring the situation and weather conditions.

Members of the public are urged to stay clear of the whale, for their own safety and for the mammal’s welfare.

In an emergency incident, all vessels and aircraft (including drones) must stay 500 metres away the whale.
