Sam goes No 1

Ocean Grove’s Sam Walsh was the number one pick in the NAB AFL draft tonight.

The Geelong Falcons and St Josephs midfielder was taken number one in the draft by Carlton.

Walsh, 18, who lives in Ocean Grove, is the son of former Grubbers’ coach Wayne Walsh.

Walsh was widely tipped all year to go at number one and will add to the Blues’ crop of youngsters.

A standout midfielder, Walsh is already touted as a future AFL captain and possesses outstanding leadership qualities.
