The board of Bellarine Community Health has announced the appointment of Shane Dawson to the position of Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Dawson is an experienced CEO with over 20 year of experience in the health and community sectors, particularly primary health care including Divisions of General Practice and Medicare Locals.
“Shane brings to Bellarine Community Health diverse skills, strong connections and experience as a strategic leader in the health sector,” board chair Hazel Ingram said.
“His career has been across a diverse range of health activities within the hospital, primary care, organisational redevelopment and disability sectors.”
Mr Dawson has most recently been working at a consultancy level in Queensland with several disability agencies in the NDIS rollout, working with boards and agencies in governance, leadership and management, combined with the implementation of clinical governance frameworks.
He holds a masters degree in business management and has extensive experience and understanding of health service integration and health service delivery, particularly in securing quality outcomes for communities.
“I am really looking forward to joining Bellarine Community Health and getting to know staff and the broader community on the Bellarine,” Mr Dawson said.
“Working in community health and for a community-based organisation is a passion of mine.”
Mr Dawson commences as CEO with Bellarine Community Health at the end of July, following the retirement of long-serving CEO John Fendyk.
