Ocean Grove Football Netball Club commences its search for a new president after Tony Potter stood down from the role at the Grubbers’ AGM on Sunday 28 October.

No nominations for the president’s role were made at the annual general meeting where up to 50 people attended at the Shell Road sports pavilion, including new senior playing coach Jordan Jones.

Potter who spent three years as OGFNC president, confirmed 2018 would be his final year in charge.

Potter will serve as a general club committee member for the 2019 season.

He thanked fellow committee members and family for their ongoing support across his three-year tenure.

“For myself after three years I will be stepping down as president, it has been fun and it has been fantastic and a great journey,” Potter told members and supporters at the AGM.

“To all the committee and especially to (vice-president) Pete (Smith) all the hard work you put in throughout the year is really appreciated and thanks very much.

“To Justine and my family for allowing me to spend most of my time up here at the club, not at home.

“It has been great three years.”

Potter said highlights included the introduction of new senior women’s and girls’ footy teams, its closer alignment with the re-named Ocean Grove Cobras Juniors Football Club and the Grubbers’ growing list of fundraising events.

In 2018, the Grubbers fielded a total of 29 teams across men’s and women’s football and netball.

“The club continues to grow and get bigger and stronger,” Potter said in the OGFNC 2018 annual general report.

“Over the last year the junior football side of our organisation the Cobras have changed their name to the Ocean Grove Cobras Football Junior Club.

“It is a fantastic move for the town and a great alignment between the two clubs.”

IN other developments, OGFNC recorded a net profit of $1,066 tabled in this year’s 2018 annual general report, which was up from its net loss of $17,000 from 2017.

Its overall revenue increased by $31,000 in 2018 compared with last year.

The club’s overall football department costs rose by a further $25,000 to $274,198 for 2018, while the Grubbers saw an increase in bar sales takings income and sponsors support income.

MEANWHILE two other positions remain vacant for next season, including the club’s Director of Football and Director of Communications roles.

Dave Tregenza replaces Craig Annaud as Director of Junior Football, John Wilkins is the new Director of Administration and Lisa Robinson joins OGFNC committee as Director of Women’s Football.

Mick Wooley, Famie Needham, Paul Sutton and Jesse Sutton arrive as new general committee members.
