Labor retains Bellarine

Labor has retained the seat of Bellarine at the state election.

Alison Marchant will replace Lisa Neville as the seat’s new member.

At the time of writing, 68 per cent of the votes had been counted with Marchant well ahead of the Liberal Party candidate Donnie Grigau.

In the two party preferred polling, Marchant had 58.5 per cent of the voting.

In first preference voting, Marchant had 41 per cent, Grigau 31.9 per cent and Greens candidate Rachel Semmens 10.9 per cent while independent Sarah Fenton captured 5 per cent.

There has been a 2.9 per cent swing towards the Coalition, but not enough to win back the seat.
