MORE than 60 grandparents travelled from far and wide for Ocean Grove Primary School’s Grade 1 Grandparent Day on 17 May.
Grandparents caught the train from Warrnambool, the ferry from Sorrento and one grandma even drove from Adelaide with a bag of pennies for her grand-daughter’s class.
Some brought in special items from their childhood, like toys, photos and books, while others brought in home-made cakes and slice to share.
Teacher Kristy Hannan-Cuthbertson said the children thoroughly enjoyed looking at the items and hearing the grandparents’ stories.
