This year’s Ride the Bellarine for SIDS is set to be bigger and better than ever, with preparations for the 2023 Red Nose fundraiser already underway.
Ride the Bellarine for SIDS organisers are preparing to throw open registrations for the local charity fundraiser next month, with riders offered the new option to take part physically or do the ride online.
The 2023 ride will see cyclists again hit the road travelling more than 110km across the Bellarine Peninsula on Saturday August 5.
In 2022, the inaugural ride raised more than $26,500 for Red Nose and this year, the charity ride hopes to raise $50,000.
Ride The Bellarine director Peter Herrick said the opportunity for riders to participate online meant this year’s charity ride had the potential to be huge.
“This year we are laying down the gauntlet and calling on anyone across Australia or around the world to jump on the bike – whether it’s cyclists completing the course physically or online – it’s all to support Red
Nose,” he said.
“If you’re joining us online, you can ride as many kilometres as you like throughout the month of August. You can clock up your kilometres in the comfort of your own home, at the gym or your favourite riding spot – it’s all up to you.
“This year, we will be riding the course in honour of Charlotte Halse, who was born sleeping to Geelong mother Poppy Bottrell. We are extremely proud to be honouring Charlotte for this year’s ride. Her memory is a reminder for why we are doing this.”
Rider numbers completing the physical course across the Bellarine Peninsula are capped to just 30 places.
Registrations for both the physical course and the online ride will open on April 3 at rideforsids.com
