Art auction for a cause

The trees plated at Lake Avenue Reserve in 2019 are thriving.

After an enforced hiatus in 2020, the Bellarine Greens are again running their fundraiser, the Blank Canvas art show and Poetry Slam.

The event aims to raise money to plant trees on National Tree Day on Sunday, August 1.

In 2019, 80 volunteers were able to plant tube stock at Lake Avenue Reserve, Ocean Grove.

Bellarine Greens are calling on the arts community to donate a painting or photo of any size for a silent auction at Driftwood Cafe, Ocean Grove from April 1-15 as part of the event.

The theme of the art show is ‘the beautiful Bellarine’ and it is open to anyone who wants to contribute an artwork.

The last bids will be held on April 15 at 7.30pm.

Real estate agent Hugh McEwan will put some of the more significant pieces under the hammer.

The event will also include a poetry slam.

Poets will perform to the audience and a panel of five judges.

Six poets have been lined up to perform their thoughts of COVID-19, but organisers are hoping for more to come forward. Door entry is $10.
