Aircraft incident at Lake Connewarre

Paramedics were called to an aircraft incident near Lake Connewarre this morning.

Paramedics have treated and taken seven people to hospital.

A man in his 30s was airlifted to the Alfred in a stable condition with upper body injuries, while three other people were taken to hospital by road ambulance to Geelong.

All were in a stable condition with serious injuries.

Three other patients have been taken to hospital for further medical assessment.

Paramedics assessed 10 other people from the aircraft at the scene, but they did not require emergency treatment or transport.

Police also attended the incident.

Seventeen people, including the pilot, were on board a plane which took off from Barwon Heads Airport about 7.50am.

It’s understood the plane got into difficulty before making an emergency landing nearby in Connewarre.

Five people have been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigations into the exact circumstances of the incident remain ongoing.
