Surfing films galore on the Surf Coast

Bells Beach Surf Film Festival returns to Torquay in early January.

Held at Australian National Surfing Museum each year, 15 films will be screened over three nights to celebrate its status as the longest running surf film festival in Australia.

Director John Foss is excited about the films coming to Torquay for the 15th surf film festival.

“We are stoked to be bringing some fantastic surf films to Torquay in 2026,” he said.

(The first night) features the amazing Jujo: The Musical plus Changing Tempo and Le Jardin, which explores incredible waves in Morocco. We are also excited to be showing some old school style Super 8mm surf films – My Malibu and Home, filmed and edited by Ella Bourne and local filmmaker Katey Shearer respectively.

“Closing the night we have the award-winning Bee Hives and Bottom Turns plus a tribute to Aussie surf filmmaker Tim Bonython screening a number of his latest films.

“Fifteen great films plus lots of guest speakers and a big surprise on opening night.”

The 2026 Bells Beach Surf Film Festival will run over three nights from 2 to 4 January at Australian National Surfing Museum. Doors open at 7.30pm and all films start at 8pm. Tickets at eventbrite.com
