Residents in Armstrong Creek and the Bellarine have a new option for container recycling, with the launch of a new drop-off point.
TOMRA Cleanaway, one of the network operators for the Victorian government’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS), announced a new reverse vending machine (RVM) at The Village Warralily Shopping Centre.
Like other RVMs around the region, the machine accepts drink containers including plastic, glass and cans, offering refunds via digital payment, retail vouchers or the option to donate to local charities.
TOMRA Cleanaway chief executive James Dorney said the new RVM would empower the local community to take part in sustainable initiatives.
“Recycling should be simple and accessible for everyone, and this new RVM in Armstrong Creek reflects our commitment to making that a reality,” Mr Dorney said.
“By providing convenient solutions, we hope to inspire more people to embrace recycling and contribute to a cleaner, greener future.
“We’re excited to see the positive impact this machine will have on the Greater Geelong community.”
Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos said the machines had a broad impact on local recycling efforts.
“Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme is a game-changer in how we recycle, and the rollout of these reverse vending machines is key to its success,” Mr Dimopoulos said.
“This new machine in Armstrong Creek makes it easier than ever for the community to participate, turning waste into opportunity while supporting local charities and reducing landfill. Together, we’re making recycling part of everyday life.”
