The Liberal government will invest $500,000 to upgrade sporting facilities at Ocean Grove Memorial Reserve and Shell Road Reserve if re-elected tomorrow.
Federal Corangamite MP Sarah Henderson made announcement after Ocean Grove Football Netball Club’s clash against Geelong Amateur at Shell Road.
Ms Henderson’s pledge came as she attended the club’s successful annual Pink Day at Shell Road Reserve.
It comes after Labor Corangamite candidate Libby Coker offered Ocean Grove Football Netball Club $500,000 to upgrade facilities at Memorial Oval at Draper Street last week.
Ms Henderson said that $425,000 would be used to install new lights and upgrade change rooms at Memorial Oval which would benefit junior and senior women’s football.
This will also serve the Ocean Grove Cricket Club.
“That’s a very important second home ground for the Ocean Grove community,” Ms Henderson told the Voice.
A re-elected Morrison Government will provide $40,000 for spectator seating at the Shell Road netball courts.
Ms Henderson said funding for spectator seating at the Shell Road netball courts would help enable Ocean Grove’s opportunity to host Bellarine Football Netball League finals.
“We hope that will help Ocean Grove host home finals,” Ms Henderson said.
A further $35,000 would be invested to install netting at the Southern end of Ray Menzies Memorial Oval at Shell Road.
“It is really important for safety and of course it makes the ground a lot more functional as well,” Ms Henderson said.
“I want to congratulate the Ocean Grove Football Netball Club and the wider Ocean Grove community for working towards improved sports facilities.”
