Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club strong team battled not just the wild surf at Fairhaven but also competitors from around Australia and overseas on Sunday 14 January.
With swell up to 6 foot and wild wind whipping the surf, Ocean Grove took on the best from Queensland, New South Wales and the California Lifeguards in the national “Ocean6 Series” surf lifesaving event.
The wild conditions meant that surf boat competition was cancelled early, but the club contested gruelling surf swim, board and surf ski races.
In the the days’ premier event, the Taplin Relay, Ocean Grove fielded young teams, both men’s and women’s, against the Californians and the likes of current Australian Champions, Northcliffe SLSC.
