A car fire wreaked havoc on holiday traffic near Barwon Heads bridge on Sunday.
The vehicle ignited about 6pm and forced the closure of the bridge, leaving traffic at a standstill on the road commonly known as the ‘S-bends’.
The vehicle, a 4WD, was extinguished shortly after fire crews arrived.
Ben Roe is camping at the popular holiday spot and said a fellow holidaymaker rushed in to help direct traffic.
Traffic was held for more than half an hour.
“Kim Lambertz, a camper, jumped in and directed traffic like a champ,” he said.
“Wonderful work by our beleaguered fire crews, too.”
