Liberal candidate for Bellarine Brian McKiterick has hit back at comments made by Lisa Neville over his recent move to Ocean Grove.

The current member for Bellarine, Ms Neville, questioned Mr McKiterick’s move from Torquay to Ocean Grove labelling it as “taking the piss out of the community”.

The City of Greater Geelong has deferred a decision on whether Ocean Grove residents will need to help pay for a series of footpaths around the town.

At council’s monthly meeting, deputy mayor Trent Sullivan moved to defer the decision on the 25.2-kilometre Principal Pedestrian Network (PPN) in which residents will fork out for half of the $3.65 million, with council paying for the other half.

The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action began removing a washed up whale carcass from Thirteenth Beach yesterday (Thursday October 3).

The 14 metre long, 16 tonne fin whale was found at the beach on September 12 and DEECA said last week that it intended to let the mammal decompose naturally, a process it said could take months.
