Ocean Grove, meet your latest local basketball stars.
Grade 4 students from Ocean Grove Primary School have won the Bulla Hoop Time, Junior
All Stars regional finals, at the impressive Eagle Stadium in Werribee.
Both the Grade 4 girls and boys sides progressed through to the state finals in an amazing day of basketball for the school.
Bulla Hoop Time is a basketball tournament that gives students the opportunity to play across Victoria.
Ocean Grove Primary School PE teacher Richard Hughes was a happy man after the tournament.
“Thrilled with the effort of the teams, it’s a fierce competition and at the end of the day to win both grand finals was fantastic,” he said.
Now both teams are heading off to the Junior All Stars State Finals in Dandenong on Monday 26 of November.
Players from both teams, Asha Boyd and Austin Gill were both excited and proud of how their teams played.
“We really worked hard and supported each other throughout the day, we were nervous and thrilled all at the same time,” said 10-year-old Austin.
“We’d also like to say a huge thanks to our coaches Mel Stewart and Pru Ellis and to our mums and dads for taking us especially since it was a Geelong public holiday,” said Asha, 10.
