An estimated crowd of 450 people gathered on the beach at Bukareeyoo in Ocean Grove to stand with Wadawurrung Traditional Owners in a show of respect and reflection to mark the start of NAIDOC Week.

Five projects across the Bellarine received state government funding to provide better access to beaches and coastal areas, with two $150,000 grants to replace beach stairs at Ocean Grove’s Collendina and The Corner at Barwon Heads’ 13th Beach.

Queenscliff welcomed a brand new, cutting-edge search and rescue vessel, providing a significant boost to Queenscliff Coast Guard’s ability to respond swiftly and effectively to emergency situations.

Local sailor Will Farnell, 16, was crowned Ocean Racing Club Victoria’s 2025 Youth Sailor of the Year for his list of achievements including competing in two World Championships and sailing to Sydney twice.

Ocean Grove defeated Barwon Heads in a gripping A Grade netball battle, with the young Seagulls side finishing just six goals behind at the final whistle.
