Queenscliff’s Marine Search and Rescue Unit will receive a new vessel regardless of who wins the state election.
Labor candidate for Bellarine Alison Marchant and Liberal candidate Donnie Grigau have both announced their intention to provide the unit with a new vessel.
The Liberals announced the decision in late September and Labor announced its intention last week.
A re-elected Labor government will invest $2.214 million to provide the new marine search
and rescue vessel, helping the volunteers at Queenscliff MSAR to protect the community.
“The brave and hardworking volunteers at the Queenscliff Marine Search and Rescue unit keep our community safe,” Ms Marchant said.
“A re-elected Andrews Labor government will make sure they have the vessel they
need to keep protecting our community on the water.
“Only a re-elected Andrews Labor government will make sure Queenscliff MSAR volunteers have the search and rescue vessel they deserve.”
Meanwhile Labor announced it will invest up to $20 million towards the North Bellarine Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
“Every parent wants to see their kids active and engaged – local sporting clubs are the heart of so many communities,” Ms Marchant said
“Swimming and water sports are a way of life in Australia and a re-elected Labor
government will make sure families on the Bellarine have world class facilities, with up to $20 million towards the project.”
