Going to the dentist should be an easy breezy experience – That is the aim for principal dentist Samantha Ho who leads a thriving team of general dentists at Ocean Breeze Dental which has continued to operate throughout the pandemic.
The small team of dedicated professionals are all members of the Australian Dental Association and provide general dentistry, implant, crown, bridge, teeth whitening and Invisalign.
Ocean Breeze Dental practice was established in 1987 by Dr Alastair McCallum. Sam and her husband Don took over the business in 2015.
Sam worked alongside Alastair since 2012 and says she fell in love with the patients and the local community.
“That was a big deciding factor when we looked to purchase the business,” she says.
“We are friendly and gentle and try to put our patients at ease.
“We often see multiple generations of the same family and watch the children grow up.
“The children love our balloons and look forward to their check-ups.”
A good rapport with the patients and providing a gentle and positive experience for patients is a top priority for the team.
“We use a variety of techniques to help anxious patients keep calm, including a television on the ceiling that works as a good distraction and we offer nitrous oxide ‘laughing gas’ to help you relax, if you wish,” Sam says.
“We offer a wide range of treatment and always give our patients all the available options and decide together what the best solution is to their dental dilemmas.
“Our dental nurses are friendly, approachable and well trained.”
The experienced and highly qualified team also includes doctors Lindsey Hamilton and Gerrard Vipulananthan.
“I enjoy getting to know our patients and building a rapport with people.
“It is really nice to feel part of the local community.
“I also enjoy finishing treatment on someone who is nervous or has let things go for a while, it is a real sense of achievement to get people smiling again.”
