ON hearing about little Jasper Day’s heroic plight to spread the word about type one juvenile diabetes, the staff at the Ocean Grove Hotel knew that they had found a very worthy candidate for their next trivia night, to be hosted at 7pm on Thursday 25 August.
Jasper, a local superhero who resides in Ocean Grove, was diagnosed with type one diabetes on 3 September last year, while on holiday with his family in Hawaii.
This outcome was at first unfathomable for all involved due to the lack of previous family history of the illness, which is one of the reasons that the family are trying to raise awareness about the unrelenting disease.
The trivia nights hosted by the Ocean Grove Hotel were brought into fruition by the wonderful support of the local community not only wanting to get together to enjoy a night of laughter and fun, but also to support wonderful causes such as this one, affecting individuals and groups within the community.
Profits from previous trivia nights have been donated to groups such as MS Australia, the rehabilitation of local family man, Scott, who was injured after falling from scaffolding while at work and most recently, Relay for Life.
If you would like to rally behind this little local champion and his cause, please pop on your trivia hats, get together a team of between two and 10 people and call the Ocean Grove Hotel to book a table. With many fantastic prizes on offer, not to mention a night of entertainment and fun, it’s sure to be a night to be remembered.
The Ocean Grove Hotel is at 175 Bonnyvale Road, Ocean Grove. Call on 5255 1122.
