Volunteer firefighter Bruce Golightly was named Borough of Queenscliffe’s Citizen of the Year for his decades of service to the community.

Ocean Grove singer-songwriter Vin Healy returned from France where he performed his songs on Anzac Day about Australian men and women during wartime.

Six councils, including City of Greater Geelong and Borough of Queenscliffe, united together to oppose the Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund levy followed by a protest by firefighters across the region.

Shane Cutajar was appointed as the new cricket coach for St Leonards, with Nick Hallam also taking the reigns as the club’s assistant coach.

Barwon Heads’ football club retained bragging rights with a 77-point win, while Ocean Grove’s netball team remained undefeated during the Battle of the Bridge games on 10 May.
