Around 350 to 400 metres of trees, including the native Bellarine yellow gum, on Grubb Road have been saved.
Initially around 720 metres of trees were facing the chop due to a new housing development, but meetings between Shell Road Development, Ocean Grove Community Association, community groups and individuals were successful in reducing the numbers.

Two dams at a Wallington aged care centre are set for “destruction” according to the leader of a campaign against the controversial project.
Campaigner Heidi Wane said a “verbal onsite discussion” revealed landowner TLC Aged Care would “definitely” drain the two large water bodies and fill them.

Surfside Waves Soccer Club will not endorse the City of Greater Geelong’s Ocean Grove Sporting Infrastructure Plan (OGSIP) until council provides written proof that the club will be better off.
The plan recommends the club move from its current base at Shell Road sports precinct to a new facility at Oakdene.

Ocean Grove Bowling Club (OGBC) took out two major titles at the Community Clubs Victoria (CCV) 2024 Gala Awards on July 6.
Employee Elle Boyd, who joined OGBC more than a year ago, was awarded the Emerging Young Community Leader Award while the club itself took out the Best Sustainability Initiative Award.
