Join in the fun with Parks Victoria’s Junior Ranger program this summer and discover the secrets of our National Parks and reserves with a real park ranger.
During these holidays, there are many activities being held on the Bellarine Peninsula and Surf Coast, such as Rockpool Rambles in Barwon Heads, Beachcombing sessions in Point Lonsdale, or the ever-popular Beach Treasures held across a host of different caravan parks in the region.
Parks Victoria’s Junior Ranger program aims to get children aged six to 12, and their families, exploring and appreciating the plants, animals and environments of our parks.It’s designed to get kids outdoors, having fun and getting active, while learning about the amazing nature of our parks and reserves.
“The Junior Ranger Program is an excellent way for kids to explore the natural environment and discover the diversity of species that exist right on our very doorstep,” says program host and Seasonal Ranger Steve McGain.
“Getting kids involved at a young age is particularly important because if we can get them engaged early, they will become the future caretakers of our wonderful national parks.”
He says there’s been an overwhelmingly positive response to the program this summer and he loves seeing the enthusiasm of these Junior Rangers.
“It’s truly inspiring to see the next generation so engaged and showing a genuine interest in all the creatures and habitats that we come across in our programs.”
