Man drowns at Torquay Beach

A 60-year-old man has drowned at a Torquay beach over the weekend, despite efforts from the community and emergency services to save him.

Paramedics were called to Torquay Beach on The Esplanade at around 9.45am on Saturday, May 4, following reports of a man being pulled unresponsive from the water.

Members of the public performed CPR on the man, but it was unsuccessful, as the man died at the scene.

Victoria Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
