Barwon Water is providing refillable water bottles to Prep students starting their school journeys.
Hamlyn Banks Primary School principal Nigel Holloway welcomed the initiative and observed firsthand the positive impact the delivery of water bottles has had on students at the school.
“Everyone was very excited to receive their own Barwon Water drink bottle,” he said.
“By providing the tools and knowledge on how to stay hydrated, we set young people up to make healthy and environmentally conscious choices.
“Water plays a huge role in our wellbeing and helps us thrive at school, so thank you Barwon Water for your work to promote this.”
“The water bottles are specially designed for young children and are a great way to ensure they stay hydrated so their bodies and minds can function at their best,“ Barwon Water education advisor Fernado Garci said.
Barwon Water general manager customers, community and strategy Laura Kendall said the supply of refillable bottles helped the region’s youngest community members with positive water habits.
“We’re proud to support this program, through which we have given more than 1,500 students a refillable water bottle over the past five years,” Ms Kendall said.
“By choosing tap water every day, the environmental impact from single-use water bottles can be reduced. With an estimated 50 per cent of single-use plastic bottles ending up as landfill or litter, filling up from the tap makes a big difference. We’re asking the community to really value water and use it wisely.”
