Barwon Water will launch a new grants program to create opportunities for people to access funding for community-led initiatives.
Community grant applications up to $5000 and school grant applications up to $2500 will open on February 1 and close on March 31 for community groups across the region.
Customers, community and strategy general manager Laura Kendall said Barwon Water looked forward to providing practical support through the new grants program.
“As we work to enable regional prosperity, we’ve given our whole support program a makeover so we can fund more local projects,” she said.
“Applications open on February 1, with an annual cycle that provides fair and consistent timelines for our not-for-profit, volunteer-based community organisations and schools.
“We’re now offering grants to community groups, as well as new-look schools grants…and we hope to support a wide range of projects that will make a positive difference in our local communities.
“We’re looking for projects that will help save water for the region, make the community a better place to live, improve the local environment, help people to be active and connected, and encourage social inclusion.”
Barwon Water’s other community support programs included the Schools Water Efficiency Program, WaterSmart Business Grants, and WaterSmart Business Rebates.
More information about Barwon Water’s community grants and programs is available on its website, with grant recipients notified of the outcome in May.
