OCEAN Grove Cricket Club has begun a new chapter – with its A and B Grade sides moving to Ray Menzies Memorial Oval at Shell Road, and boasting a brand new committee.
Senior coach Paul Jubber has recommitted and has been busy recruiting with the addition of batsman Michael Kenneady, spin bowler Mick Gill and the possible inclusion of young Barwon Heads batsman Tom Hobbs. Huon Bertino is also a welcome addition along with Craig Byron.
The committee has had an influx of new faces at all levels after the president, vice-president and treasurer of the last few years all stood down after many years of fantastic service to the club.
The new committee comprises Peter Hart as president, Adam Spiby as vice-president, Paul Madden as secretary/treasurer and Dana Richardson taking on the important junior co-ordinator’s role.
Other new faces include Steve Duan, Billy Foorde Engelsman and Michael Good is on board to liaise with sponsorship.
Junior numbers are looking positive with many expected to be playing at the senior level again this year.
The move to Shell Road was voted unanimously, however C and D Grades will still play at Memorial Reserve.
Training throughout August will be at 10am on Sundays before reverting to Tuesday and Thursday in September.
The first registration day will be held at Shell Road on Sunday 28 August, from 10am to noon, and then on Sunday 4 September, from noon to 3pm, where the club will have its season launch and family day barbecue, for all players and families to register and meet the committee and coaches and tour the new facility.
