Geelong’s Gabrielle Lang has reached the final of the Top Model Australia Model Search competition.
The 22-year-old said she fell into modelling in 2017 after entering a competition “not thinking I would even get in”.
“I guess I would say it was mostly something I fell into given I never really thought much would come out of it,” she said.
Gabrielle progressed through the preliminary finals of the Top Model Australia Model Search where the top 20 were chosen.
Those top 20 competed in the Victorian state final and from there the top eight were chosen to compete in the national finals.
Gabrielle has just completed her Bachelor of Biomedical Science majoring in infection and immunity and is now undertaking a Graduate Certificate of Epidemiology Intelligence. She
hopes to one day work in health departments around the world helping to prevent outbreaks of new and infectious diseases.
If Gabrielle wins the competition she will compete in London on the international stage and walk in London Fashion Week in September.
“Luckily my graduate certificate is part time and online so I can study anywhere at any time,” she said.
“It may be difficult to balance but I am ready for the challenge.
“It is going to be an amazing experience regardless of if I win or not. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people and gain self confidence.”
This year, Top Model Australia has partnered with Bully Zero, and all contestants partake in workshops to help them become ambassadors within their schools and community groups.
“I am excited to take part in the workshops that will be happening on the weekend of the competition where we will learn to become ambassadors for the Bully Zero foundation within our communities,” she said.
“I think the Bully Zero foundation is very important as they strive to make sure that every Australian feels safe, valued and supported in their communities.”
The final of Top Model Australia Model Search is on July 10 at Q Events in Melbourne.
