Jakara qualifies first

Barwon Heads star Jakara Anthony has started the Winter Olympics in style overnight.

Anthony has qualified first in the women’s mogul event.

Anthony clocked 83.75 to finish ahead of France’s Perrine Laffont (81.11) and Jaelin Kauf (79.15) from the USA.

Anthony finished fourth in PyeongChang at 19 years of age.

“I am so excited to finally compete under the lights, it’s been a big four-year build up and then the last week’s been crazy with a lot of training days,” Anthony told Channel 7.

“I was pretty stoked with the run, there were definitely bits that I trained a lot better.

“I am so happy with that as a starting position. It’s a great position to be in going into finals in a couple of days with room to improve.”
