Collendina will need to produce a massive bowling effort this week to prevent Surf Coast from notching up its first win of the season.
The Cobras batted first at Polwarth Oval, Torquay, and were in trouble at 6/56.
Richard Brown and Jack Thomson then set about resurrecting the innings before Brown was dismissed for a well made 41 from 100 deliveries.
Thomson followed soon after for an important 20 from 69 and the Snakes were 8/128.
Jacob Gasier then entered the fray and made 29 off 32 balls to get the final total to a respectable 161 all out.
Collendina then had seven overs to bowl before stumps, but couldn’t find a breakthrough with the Suns closing the day at 0/37, needing 125 next week while Dina needs 10 wickets.
Dean Britt showed his bowling class yet again with a five-wicket haul in C1 Grade.
Britt took 5/31 with his nagging medium pacers to help dismiss Barrabool for 149.
Zach Muir didn’t take a wicket but conceded just eight runs from his 10 overs and new-ball partner Byron Hansford was good with 1/20 from 11.
The Cobras are 1/7 in reply, losing Des Every, unluckily caught at backward square leg in the first over.
Collendina was on the receiving end of the Tony Mirabella show in C2 Grade.
But first, the Snakes batted and were all out for 89 with only Garry Wingrave (40) making it to double figures.
Youngster Bede Clarke (4/32), James Ponsford (3/7) and Conan Roos (3/17) were the destroyers for Barwon Heads.
Mirabella then came out and smacked 102 retired in no time while Ben Mcredden made 59 with the pair sharing a 180-run opening stand.
The Seagulls went to stumps at 3/226 and with first-innings points already wrapped up, will likely declare straight away and get the Snakes in for a second hit.
David Worn continued his great form in D Grade with 51 in Collendina’s score of 5/203 against Armstrong Creek. James Molloy is also enjoying a great season and made 61.
The Titans chased the runs down with seven wickets and 10 overs to spare with Cam McPherson unbeaten on 76.
It was Collendina’s first loss for the season, but with several players missing from higher grades, the team should return to normal soon.
