Ocean Grove-raised Geelong VFLW footballer Anna Teague earned a top three finish at the club’s best-and-fairest award count on Saturday 2 September.
Teague, 29, who turns 30 in December, came third with a total of 280 votes.
She finished behind winner Lily Mithen (294 votes), a Melbourne AFLW footballer, and runner-up Cassie Blakeway (287 votes).
Teague played in Geelong’s VFLW first fixture – in Ocean Grove over the Seaford Tigerettes – at Ray Menzies Oval on 13 May.
Teague booted an exciting running goal from half back and was named in the best players against Seaford.
The ex-Geelong Lady Supercats captain made a successful transition from basketball to football after she was named in Geelong’s VFL women squad in November last year.
Teague’s brother-in-law is Mark Neeld, an Ocean Grove four-time premiership winning coach who played 74 AFL games with Geelong and Richmond.
Ocean Grove pair Hannah Burchell and Lara Williams both finished in the top 10 Geelong VFLW best-and-fairest count.
Seventh-placed Burchell polled 244 votes, while Williams finished equal eight with 241 votes.
