Round one gets underway

Round one of Bellarine Football League gets underway today and some mouthwatering match ups await.

League pacesetter Torquay takes on the vastly improved Ocean Grove side.

Torquay was dominant last season, going through the season undefeated and is the popular pick for this year’s premiership.

Ocean Grove has lost some key players, but have gained some, and will again be in the finals mix.

Former Geelong player Tom Ruggles will line up for Drysdale when it travels to Barwon Heads.

The Hawks have recruited well and are expected to be thereabouts come the business end of the season.

Barwon Heads remains strong and will be tough to beat at home.

Queenscliff hosts Newcomb in what is an intriguing match up.

Both sides were outside the top five last year but had their moments. A win would get the season off to a bright start.

Anglesea travels to Modewarre for a twilight game and will be missing a few of its key players from last year.

The Warriors are set for another good season and it’s hard to see them lose this one at home.

Geelong Amateur plays Portarlington.

Ammos missed the finals last year while Port didn’t win a game. The Demons will be more competitive this year, however, with some good players being recruited.
