Essence Theatre brings the premier tour of their latest production, Jack and Millie to the Potato Shed at 8pm on Saturday 5 March.

We all respond differently to life changing news. Millie is a 50-something professional at the peak of her career.

A diagnosis of breast cancer sends her life into a tailspin. In response to the shock, Millie creates imaginary friend Jack.

Helping Millie to find sense and meaning in the wake of the life-threatening diagnosis, Jack brings new insights and perspectives into Millie’s life while she deals with the long-term health issues of breast cancer.

Jack is also on hand to make Millie laugh – and to get her a glass of wine when she needs it.

Jack and Millie is based on Essence Theatre founder and award-winning playwright Alaine Beek’s personal experience of traversing the mental challenges and funny moments of a cancer diagnosis.

“Loved it. Fun and quirky. I didn’t think it black at all, but colourful and full of light, love, texture, illuminating and honest. The cast was brilliant” Christine, audience member.

“Absolutely well put together, acting superb, writing was precise and cut through with that wonderful sense of humour” Peter, audience member.
