Geelong’s Lawson Humphries has been named the Round 18 Telstra AFL Rising Star nominee after an impressive performance in the Cats’ 20-point win over Collingwood at the MCG.
In just his third game, the 182cm defender collected 23 disposals (19 kicks, 4 handballs) with 96 percent efficiency and a further 13 uncontested marks.
With a rare ability to kick either right or left foot with equal efficiency Humphries will be one to watch.
He was drafted from the Swan Districts in the WAFL with pick 63 in the 2023 AFL Draft and played junior footy with Wickham Wolves JFC.
Humphries is the second Geelong player to be nominated for the Rising Star award this season, joining teammate Ollie Dempsey who received the nomination in Round 1.
