Ocean Grove had to work hard to defeat Barwon Heads in round 13.
The Seagulls proved more than a match for the second-placed Grubbers, leading at half time.
But Grove scored 35 goals to 25 after the break to run out winners 61 to 52 with Bec O’Neill scoring 48 while Zoe Magnusson shot 41 at the other end of the court.
The B Graders were also challenged by the Heads.
Barwon Heads trailed by a goal at the last change, but an 11 to six goal last term sealed the win for the Grubbers.
Amy Grace was best for Ocean Grove while Polly Robertson was the Seagulls’ best.
Ocean Grove has a two-game break on the rest of the C Grade competition after a 34 to 25 win.
The D Grade game was a thriller with Ocean Grove winning by the smallest of margins. Ocean Grove sits second on the ladder while the Seagulls are fourth.
Lauren Hanson, Ella Brown and Paula Birch were best while Molly Gray, Lucy Wheatland and Charlotte Bothe were best for Barwon Heads.
The Heads got the win in E Grade, 30 to 26, with Lily Schmidt and Olivia Quirk, Jorja Nicholson playing well while Anabelle Sargeant, Isabella Maier and Kylie Collett were best for the red and white.
Second placed Barwon Heads proved way too good in the 19 & Under, winning 50 to 8 with Laila Thompson, Charlotte Middleton and Alex Batchelor (41 goals) in good form.
Mikala Martin, Laura Ahearn and Bree Sampson were best in Grove’s 27 to 21 win in the 17 & Under Division 1 clash while Ava Verhagen, Julia Leigh and Piper Needham were ruthless as the 17 & Under Division 2 game finished with a win to OG, 34 to 1.
It was a close in the 15 & Under Division 1 game with Grove winning by three goals. Tamika Wall, Airlie Bennett and Charli Burke were best and Georgie Price, Charli Janezic and Charlie-May McDonald played well for the home team.
The first half of the 15 & Under Division 2 game was close before Ocean Grove pulled away to win 23 to 10.
Abharna Sanjeev, Allegra Aquilina and Ava Leske were the architects of Ocean Grove’s 20 to 7 win in the 13 & Under Division 1 game while Maeve Condon, Zoe Clarke and Skye Quirk played well for the Gulls. Grove won the 13 & Under Division 2 clash 27 to 6 to put a two-game margin between it and Barwon Heads in 4th and 5th place.
