THE Wave will welcome former Ugandan child soldier Grace Arach this month for “A Night of Hope”.
Presented by World Vision Australia, A Night of Hope is a rare opportunity to hear Grace’s inspirational story, along with performances by award-winning Australian singer Levi McGrath.
Grace and Levi are touring Victoria and South Australia and will come to Ocean Grove on 28 May.
Grace was abducted into the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) at the age of 12.
After enduring the horrors of war and becoming a child bride to a leader of the LRA, Grace made her dramatic escape and found refuge at a World Vision Child Soldier Rehabilitation Centre in Uganda.
In 2009, Levi McGrath and his wife Megan spent six life-changing months working with former child soldiers in Uganda through World Vision.
Meeting Grace in Uganda has greatly impacted his life and music.
Levi will share the stage with Grace and perform songs written about his time in Uganda.
“The Night of Hope Tour will move you deeply and reveal the harrowing realities facing children affected by war,” Levi said.
“I’m proud to be sharing my music alongside Grace – a remarkable woman with a powerful story of courage in the face of extreme adversity.”
Levi McGrath is an independent singer-songwriter, and an assistant musical director of choirs for the disadvantaged and marginalised.
He believes much work and music is needed, to help turn the tide of poverty, apathy and human suffering.
“I’m really excited to share a message of hope through my experiences working with child soldiers in Uganda,” he said.
“Grace’s gripping story of survival and recovery from life as a child soldier will give Australians a rare glimpse into a unique area of World Vision’s life-changing work.”
