Big win for Grove

Ocean Grove defeated Geelong Cement in Midweek Pennant Division 1 bowls yesterday.

The Grovers won 65 to 49 with Lorraine Hunt’s rink of Adele Ryan, Stephen Parry and Alan Callow prevailing 23 to 11.

Ocean Grove’s other Pennant side went down to Queenscliff by 13 shots.

In Division 3, both Ocean Grove sides experienced different results.

Grove 4 thrashed Portarlington by 25 shots with all three rinks tasting success. Lynn Stonehouse’s rink of Kevin Richards, Nancy Quinton and Peter Crammond won by 13.

Ocean Grove 3 lost to Anglesea by 12 shots, but sits in second place on the ladder while Grove 4 is fourth.

In Division 5, Ocean Grove defeated City of Geelong by three shots in a thriller. It was Grove’s second win for the season and it put them within striking distance of the top four.

Odeon Grove 6 prevailed in Division 6 against Belmont with Heather Allan and Lorraine Delauney winning both rinks.

Ocean Grove 7 lost to Portarlington by four shots in a close game.

Both Grove sides occupy the first two spots on the ladder.

Both Ocean Grove sides won their Division 7 encounters.

Team 8 beat Torquay by 13 shots and Team 9 was way too good for Clifton Springs.
