We will remember them

Veterans from WWI will be remembered today with several Bellarine peninsula RSL sub-branches holding services.

Ocean Grove Barwon Heads RSL will conduct a service in each town.

The Ocean Grove service will be at Ocean grove Park at 10.45am and Barwon Heads will hold its service at the community hall on Hitchcock Avenue at 10.45am.

Drysdale RSL Sub-branch will conduct a very slimmed-down Remembrance Day at the Drysdale Cenotaph.

The RSL’s intention is to lay only three wreaths on behalf of the Sub-branch, the Women’s Auxiliary and the Vietnam Veterans. The flag will be lowered from early in the morning. There will be one minute’s silence at 11am followed by the Rouse and the raising of the flag.

Public attendance is to be kept to a minimum.

After the short cenotaph activity, vaccinated members of the RSL and their families are invited back to the clubrooms for a BBQ, to be followed by the monthly meeting.
